The upcoming Budapest Lecture will feature Heru Dewanto, Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Lecturer of the Indonesia Defense University and the University of Indonesia. As an engineer by training, Dewanto, who once served as President of the Institution of Engineers Indonesia, Chairman of AFEO (ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organization) and Chairman of AEESEAP (Association of Engineering Education of Southeast East Asia and the Pacific), understands firsthand the value of STEM education in driving not only innovation but also informed leadership.

Dewanto has worked for national and multi-national infrastructure corporations; therefore, he has witnessed how rapidly evolving technologies—such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, and automation—are reshaping strategic decision-making in both the public and private sectors. During the event, he will share real-world examples of how integrating technology into strategic management is crucial for building adaptive and future-oriented organizations.

Az elmúlt évtizedekben visszaesett a STEM (természettudományok, technológia, mérnöki tudományok és matematika) szakterületek tanításának és oktatásának népszerűsége. Az olyan tantárgyak, mint a fizika, a statisztika, a biológia vagy az informatikai rendszerek elsőre félelmetesnek tűnhetnek, de a társadalomtudományok mellett a természettudományos és műszaki területek is kulcsfontosságúak a gazdasági versenyképesség, a technológiai ellenálló-képesség és a társadalmi fejlődés előmozdításához.

Az egyre összetettebb, és technológia által vezérelt világunkban a STEM-oktatás olyan készségekkel ruházza fel a hallgatókat, mint az elemző gondolkodás, a problémamegoldás és az innovációs képesség, melyek nélkülözhetetlenek mind a közpolitikai, mind az üzleti vezetésben. A Budapest Lectures rendezvénysorozat következő vendége Heru Dewanto, az Indonéz Kereskedelmi és Iparkamara alelnöke, valamint az Indonéz Védelmi Egyetem és az Indonéziai Egyetem oktatója. Korábban az Institution of Engineers Indonesia; az ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organization, illetve az Association of Engineering Education of Southeast East Asia and the Pacific elnöki pozícióját is betöltötte. Mérnöki végzettségének köszönhetően Dewanto első kézből tapasztalta meg, hogy milyen értéket képvisel a STEM-oktatás, nemcsak az innováció, de a megalapozott vezetés előmozdításában is.

Dewanto dolgozott nemzeti és multinacionális infrastruktúra-vállalatoknál is; ennek révén tanúja volt, hogyan alakítják át a gyorsan fejlődő technológiák – például a mesterséges intelligencia, az adatelemzés és az automatizáció – a stratégiai döntéshozatalt mind az állami, mind a magánszektorban.
