Over the course of the past year, the Youth Research Institute and our academic partners worked together to review, analyse and compile the top issues and phenomena impacting young people today. In the most recent edition of our Annual Youth Report series, Ifjúság’23, we presented the top five challenges Hungarian youth faced in 2023 and what we predict will be most relevant in 2024. Among these, AI technology, political activity, and mental wellbeing will be particularly prevalent.

As 2024 advances and these issues become increasingly clearer, our institute an even wider gaze at youth and their surroundings globally. To be able to launch a constructive dialogue on the topic, the Youth Research Institute is organizing the conference EMERGING VOICES– Perspectives from the Next Generation of Scholars in Youth Research in Budapest on May 14, 2024. The Youth Research Institute will host aspiring PhD candidates and young professionals from around the world to share their research, findings, and perspectives on the state of youth and the dynamics of generations today on the following topics: 

- The impact and reception of AI technology and tools among youth;
- Youth political activism against the backdrop of upcoming and ongoing election campaigns in 2024;
- The rise of mental health challenges for young people over the past few years.

Az elmúlt év során az Ifjúságkutató Intézet tudományos partnereivel közösen dolgozott a fiatalokat napjainkban érintő legfontosabb kérdések és jelenségek áttekintésén és elemzésén. Ifjúság’23 című éves ifjúsági jelentésünkben bemutattuk, hogy 2023-ban mi az az öt kihívás, amellyel a fiatalok leginkább szembesülnek és melyek lesznek 2024-ben a leghangsúlyosabbak. Ezek közül kiemelkedik a mesterséges intelligencia, a politikai aktivitás és a mentális jólét kérdése.

A 2024-es év előrehaladtával ezek a kérdések egyre inkább körvonalazódnak, így intézetünk egy még szélesebb pillantást vet a fiatalokra és környezetükre globálisan. Annak érdekében, hogy konstruktív párbeszédet indíthassunk a témáról, az Ifjúságkutató Intézet 2024. május 14-én Budapesten megrendezi az „EMERGING VOICES - Perspectives from the Next Generation of Scholars in Youth Research” című konferenciát. Az Ifjúságkutató Intézet vendégül látja a világ minden tájáról érkező feltörekvő doktorjelölteket és fiatal szakembereket, akik az alábbi témákban osztják meg kutatási eredményeik és perspektíváikat az ifjúság helyzetéről és a generációk dinamikájáról:

- A mesterséges intelligencia technológia és eszközök hatása és fogadtatása a fiatalok körében;
- Ifjúsági politikai aktivizmus a közelgő és folyamatban lévő választási kampányok tükrében 2024-ben;
- A fiatalok mentális egészségügyi kihívásainak növekedése az elmúlt években.
