Constitutional lawyer, sociologist, political scientist, and university professor. In 1982, he founded the Social Sciences College, now known as the István Bibó College, which he directed until 1988. In 1991, he established the Századvég School of Politics and led it for nearly two decades (1991–1998, 2002–2010). Since 1987, he has served as a senior research fellow at the Institute of Political Science of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
