Transylvanian School of Politics

Mathias Corvinus Collegium, together with the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (RMDSZ) and the Hungarian Youth Conference (MIÉRT), has been organizing training courses within the framework of the Transylvanian School of Politics since 2017. The four-weekend training program provides practical political knowledge and skills to young people who are willing to engage in long-term shaping of their communities.

Going beyond conventional political science, participants gain insight into the functioning and operation of political institutions and parties with the help of national and international experts. The program is based on small group work and courses are held in both Hungarian and English. During their training, school members gain insight into political campaigns, community building, public opinion polling methodology, all while developing their leadership skills through training in negotiation, rhetoric, and presentation. The program is an excellent opportunity for those whom an insight into the workings of party politics will help them in their community activities, business, work. During the eight months of the training program, admitted youth take part in four off-site training weekends in Kolozsvár (Cluj-Napoca), Sepsiszentgyörgy (Sfântu Gheorghe), Bucharest, and Budapest, while continually working on e-learning materials and working on assignments. Assignments include working on essay writing, presentations, speech writing, research, or even video production.

Presently, the alumni community of the Transylvanian School of Politics numbers close to 100 members, which has warranted a greater emphasis on community building, organization of alumni get-togethers, and participation in joint MCC events. The program averages around 20 students graduating each year at the joint graduation ceremony of the Public Affairs Programs.
