Visiting Fellowship Program

Why Join MCC’s Mission?

In today’s increasingly complex world, the need for fresh ideas, bold strategies, and visionary leadership has never been greater. Yet rising polarization and a growing intolerance for diverse viewpoints have made it harder than ever to generate and exchange new ideas, particularly those that seek to preserve our shared heritage, traditions, and nations.

At Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC), we believe that the solutions to today’s challenges are within reach. Our mission is to create an environment where researchers, professors, policymakers, and thought leaders from around the world can collaborate to shape our students and the future together.

The Visiting Fellowship Program is a cornerstone of this mission. It offers outstanding international scholars and professionals the opportunity to engage with MCC’s vibrant academic community, inspire our students, and share authentic ideas freely—without fear of censorship or cultural pressure.

What is the Role of a Visiting Fellow?

Whether you join MCC for a few weeks or several months, you will play an integral role in our intellectual ecosystem. Fellows contribute to MCC’s research initiatives, deliver lectures, and mentor students while developing their own teaching or research agenda.

Your fellowship experience will allow you to share your expertise and vision through public lectures, seminars, and collaborations with Hungarian scholars. At the same time, you will have the chance to immerse yourself in Hungary’s unique culture, learning the language, exploring historic sites across the country, and meeting leading policymakers and community figures.

MCC organizes regular cultural and academic excursions both within Budapest and across Hungary, ensuring that your experience extends well beyond the capital and offers a genuine connection to the country’s heritage and people.

How Does MCC Compensate Visiting Fellows?

We understand that joining MCC often means stepping away from your home institution, family, and daily responsibilities. In recognition of this commitment, MCC offers fair and competitive salary for Visiting Fellows. Salaries are determined based on experience, research focus, and individual expectations. In addition, MCC provides further support, including round-trip flights to and from Budapest, potential access to Hungarian social security as required by law, visa costs (if applicable), office space, and support for research and work-related travel.
