In what ways do European courts limit the sovereignty of nation states, and when do nation- tates resist the decisions of European courts? Gaëtan Cliquennois (University of Nantes) will analyse this question by looking at two cornerstones of nation state sovereignty: how offenders are punished and how budgets are enacted.
