The US also made significant efforts to de-escalate conflicts in the DRC and Sudan, and to mitigate tension in the Horn of Africa. Yet, the recognition of Somaliland has not happened yet, and the suspension of USAID activities and the deportation of third-country migrants to Africa have caused significant controversy. What are the main pillars of current US-Africa relations? Could Washington offer the continent a viable alternative to Chinese and Russian engagement?
