In this spirit, Budapest welcomes Dr. Chris Greenhalgh—literature teacher, former headteacher, writer, and screenwriter. In his presentation, he will explore how the values of classical education can relate to modern school leadership and operations. He will present a mindset that helps us rethink our decisions, relationships, and our own roles as educators or leaders. His literary work was recognized with the Eric Gregory Award and has served as Deputy Head at Sevenoaks School and led international schools in London, Milan, and Athens. His talk will offer practical examples of how leaders make decisions in uncertainty, how teams can function effectively, how conflicts and change can be managed, and which everyday habits shape a school’s culture, atmosphere, and long-term performance.
Classical literacy, literature, storytelling, and humanistic thinking continue to play a fundamental role in how we educate thoughtful, adaptable, and responsible young people. In a rapidly changing world, education that does more than simply transfer knowledge but also develops judgment, self-awareness, linguistic sensitivity, and a deeper understanding of others. But how can these values be embedded in 21st century schools.
