Quo Vadis, West? - Beyond Idealism, Back to Realism

The crisis of Western civilization is often explained through external factors: geopolitical competition, the rise of strategic rivals, and the transformation of the international order. These explanations, however, tend to overlook the extent to which many of the West’s current problems stem from its own decisions. In the post–Cold War period, a universalist approach gradually emerged as a dominant strategic orientation, marginalizing the traditional principles of state sovereignty, national interest, and political restraint.
