Paolo Carozza is Professor of Law and Concurrent Professor of Political Science at University of Notre Dame. He is also a faculty member at Notre Dame Law School since 1996, specializes in comparative constitutional law, human rights, and international law. He holds an AB and a JD from Harvard University and was a Ford Foundation Fellow in Public International Law at Harvard Law School. He has held significant roles at Notre Dame, including Director of the Kellogg Institute for International Studies and the Center for Civil and Human Rights. Internationally, he served on the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and was its President in 2008-09. He was a U.S. member of the Venice Commission and is currently a member of Meta's Oversight Board. Recognized for his contributions, he was awarded the Order of Merit of Bernardo O’Higgins by Chile in 2009, Notre Dame's Reinhold Niebuhr Award in 2019, and the Notre Dame Faculty Award in 2023. Appointed by Pope Francis, Carozza is an Academician of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences.
