The MCC Center for Constitutional Politics is proud to announce the publication of two significant volumes by Routledge Publishing in 2024, edited by Kálmán Pócza, Head of the Center for Constitutional Politics. These comprehensive works delve into the intricate relationship between constitutional courts and parliamentary majorities, providing a nuanced understanding of judicial power in Europe.
The first volume, Constitutional Review in Central and Eastern Europe: Judicial-Legislative Relations in Comparative Perspective, systematically examines the extent to which judicial decisions have influenced political actors' maneuverability from 1990 to 2020. This volume includes ten country studies and a concluding comparative analysis, offering a detailed methodology to evaluate the practice of constitutional adjudication in the region. The second volume, Constitutional Review in Western Europe: Judicial-Legislative Relations in Comparative Perspective, complements the first by exploring judicial-legislative relations in nine Western European countries. Together, these volumes provide an invaluable resource for scholars in empirical legal research, comparative constitutional law, and political science, particularly those interested in the judicialization of politics. Márton Csapodi, researcher at the Center for Constitutional Politics, has also co-authored two chapters in each volume. These publications underscore the Center's commitment to fostering a deeper understanding of constitutional dynamics in Europe.
