The MCC Leadership Training Academy places great emphasis on comprehensively learning about the communities and values of the Carpathian Basin. As part of this, in February, students visited Székesfehérvár, where they had the opportunity to gain insight into the vibrant life and challenges of another Hungarian city.

The students started the day at Ikarus Járműipari Kft., a company with a 125-year history. They watched a company presentation that enriched them with knowledge about the company's past, current situation, and future goals. They learned how Ikarus became an internationally recognized brand, which vehicles it manufactures, and where they can find the city’s electric buses, produced in Székesfehérvár, both in Hungary and globally. After the presentation, we had the chance to tour the factory and observe the production of Ikarus bus parts and the assembly of the vehicles.

Their next stop was Hydro Extrusion Hungary Kft., a member of the Hydro group, which manufactures aluminum profiles and is also a key player in Székesfehérvár’s industrial activities. The company's financial director spoke to them about the industry’s specifics, Hydro's strategy, and the practical implementation of environmentally friendly manufacturing processes, which they had the opportunity to see firsthand while walking along the production line. He emphasized the foundational pillars of the organizational culture and shared exciting details about encouraging connections among employees and the employee-oriented renovation of the site.

It was a great honor for the students to be received by András Cser-Palkovics, the Mayor of Székesfehérvár. The Mayor spoke about the city’s sports and tourism life, the issue of engaging with young people, as well as urban development and Székesfehérvár’s national situation. In him, they met a dedicated politician who creates direct connections with the members of the community, is open to dialogue, and is committed to the continuous development and improvement of the city.

The students concluded the day at the Székesfehérvár MCC, where Annamária Östör, the head of the training center, shared with them the initial difficulties caused by COVID-19 when the institution first opened. She also talked about how quickly the space became filled with life, turning into a meeting point for motivated, experience-oriented students seeking learning and community connections in the area, also hosting cultural and public lectures.

The meaningful and exciting day spent in Székesfehérvár provided a unique opportunity to explore the city, which is also of great importance in Hungarian history, from a new perspective.
