The Dudek House, newly renovated thanks to MCC's investment, has now been officially inaugurated. One of Oradea’s oldest civilian buildings has once again been given a role worthy of its original purpose: it has reopened as a center for knowledge and community life.
The historic house, built in the 1870s and later used as a school, stood abandoned for many years. Thanks to the cooperation between MCC and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Oradea, it can now serve the community again. The reconstruction took place between August 2024 and May 2025, with a focus on preserving its heritage value while creating a modern educational environment.
MCC’s mission is to offer value-based opportunities to young people across the Carpathian Basin. The Dudek House is now a fitting venue for this mission: a historic building filled with new inspiration, where the city’s past meets a creative community oriented toward the future.
The renovation included full structural reinforcement, a new roof, modern engineering systems, a heat pump-based heating and cooling system, and upgraded electrical and fire safety networks. The original exterior details were restored, the wrought-iron railings were repaired, and decorative elements discovered in the attic were installed in the entrance hall as a symbolic link between past and present.
Inside, visitors are welcomed by a clean, bright, elegant atmosphere. Spacious classrooms, a modern conference hall, and community spaces create an environment where learning, dialogue, and community building can thrive.
Life has already begun to fill the renewed spaces: students, teachers, and professional programs are now active in the building. The graduation ceremony of the 8th-grade FIT students was held here, which means that after many decades, this emblematic building of Oradea is once again serving the purpose it once had: the pursuit of knowledge.
As a place where past and present meet, the Dudek House demonstrates that true heritage protection means preserving old values while giving them new meaning. Thanks to MCC’s work in safeguarding cultural assets, a space has opened in the heart of Oradea where the city’s future can be built with talented youth, meaningful ideas, and a collaborative community.
