Our junior research fellow, Botond Lezsák, together with the team of the Faculty of Law of Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary, achieved first place at the ECUPL Intellectual Property Moot, an international intellectual property advocacy competition held in Shanghai.

The international competition was organized by the East China University of Political Science and Law in cooperation with the AALCO Hong Kong Regional Arbitration Centre. The moot concerned a fictitious trademark law case, and both the written submissions and the oral pleadings were evaluated by a panel of eight renowned Chinese and one Japanese legal experts specializing in intellectual property law.

A total of 14 teams participated in the competition, including two U.S. teams (University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania State University), one team from Macau (Macau University of Science and Technology), as well as several Chinese universities (e.g. Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University). It is noteworthy that according to the QS University Rankings, Tsinghua University is ranked 17th globally, while the University of Pennsylvania is ranked 15th.
