MCC welcomed Her Excellency Maya Kadosh, Ambassador of the State of Israel to Hungary, for an Ambassador Talk focused on Israel’s security environment, diplomatic priorities, and deepening cooperation with Hungary. Reflecting on her service in Israeli military intelligence during the Camp David negotiations, Ambassador Kadosh emphasized that diplomacy and national security are inseparable. She underlined that Israel must continuously articulate and defend its position internationally in order to safeguard its legitimacy in a complex and shifting global landscape.

In discussing geopolitics, she described the United States as Israel’s cornerstone strategic ally, while noting that relations with other major powers are managed pragmatically and always with national security considerations in mind. She highlighted the Abraham Accords as a historic turning point that advanced cooperation with several Arab states in areas such as technology, energy, and trade. At the same time, she identified Iran’s nuclear ambitions and its regional proxy network as the most serious threats facing Israel, stressing that long term stability requires the elimination of terrorist capabilities and meaningful societal reform.

Turning to Hungarian–Israeli relations, Ambassador Kadosh praised Hungary’s consistent position within the European Union and pointed to shared commitments to sovereignty and democratic identity as key pillars of the partnership. Cooperation has expanded across defense technology, cybersecurity, energy, agriculture, water management, and higher education. Concluding the discussion, she encouraged students to engage with Israel through academic exchanges and research partnerships, emphasizing that sustainable bilateral relations are built not only on political alignment but also on strong people to people connections.
