The Center for Constitutional Politics organised a very interesting discussion in which the former Attorney General of Northern Ireland gave his thoughts on the UK's judicial system, the judicial branch. The main topic of the seminar was the UK Supreme Court, and the participants were able to hear about the history of its development, its traditions and its "newness": the speaker gave his experiences. There was much to learn about the current judges (Lords), the emblematic presidents of the Supreme Court. The seminar also drew parallels and distinctions between continental and common law court systems and approaches. The session concluded with a discussion on the current state of play, on constitutional jurisprudence - its reality and relevance - and on the possible extension of the Supreme Court's jurisdiction to the interpretation of the law.
