The "Discover Hungary" trip of the Budapest Fellowship Program took participants on a journey to Pécs and Mohács, where history, culture, and breathtaking sights came together.

The first stop was Cella Septichora, a truly unique site where, apart from Rome, 4th-century Christian murals can only be seen. The ancient burial chambers provided a fascinating glimpse into early Christian communities and their way of life.

Next, they visited one of the most iconic landmarks of Pécs, the basilica. After admiring its stunning interior, the fellows climbed the tower, where they were greeted by a spectacular panoramic view of the city and the Mecsek Hills.

One of the highlights of the trip was the Busó Festival in Mohács. The world of folk traditions and elaborate costumes completely captivated them—the eerie yet cheerful Busó parade was a truly immersive cultural experience. The noisy, masked procession, the towering bonfire, and the festive atmosphere made this day unforgettable.

This trip not only brought the fellows closer to Hungary’s history but also to its living cultural traditions, which continue to thrive in the present.
