MCC’s Kaposvár Center recently hosted the latest edition of MCC’s Ambassador Talk series, welcoming Camila Malvina Marquez Araujo, Ambassador of Chile to Hungary, for an engaging and insightful discussion with local high school students.

During the conversation, participants gained valuable insight into the world of diplomacy, alongside a personal perspective on the Ambassador’s professional journey. She reflected on how her previous diplomatic postings in Mexico and France shaped the expertise and perspective she brings to her current role. She emphasized that diplomacy extends far beyond academic knowledge, underlining the importance of strong problem solving skills, adaptability, effective communication, emotional intelligence, and cultural openness in building successful international cooperation.

The discussion also explored the longstanding relationship between Chile and Hungary. In 2025, the two countries marked the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and their partnership continues to thrive across a wide range of areas, including trade, culture, and scientific collaboration. The Ambassador highlighted the key role of scholarship programs in strengthening bilateral ties and noted that approximately 500 Chilean citizens currently reside in Hungary.

The interactive format of the event provided students with the opportunity to raise more personal questions. Topics ranged from Chile’s most remarkable tourist destinations to the Ambassador’s impressions of Hungary. She spoke warmly about the Hungarian countryside and shared her experiences visiting Szeged and Sopron. On a lighter note, she revealed that her favorite Hungarian dessert is Somlói galuska.

The discussion was moderated by Izabella Csapó, a student in MCC's High School Program in Kaposvár, whose confident and well prepared moderation contributed significantly to the success of the event. Overall, the event offered an inspiring and insightful introduction to the practice of diplomacy and the significance of international relations, broadening students’ global perspectives and encouraging greater openness toward the wider world.
