Just over a century ago, the Western world stood at the height of its power. Its empires spanned continents, its economic and military strength was unrivalled, and its cultural and artistic achievements set the global standard. Today, however, this historic dominance faces mounting challenges. Demographic decline, mass migration, and growing geopolitical competition are placing increasing pressure on Western societies, while internal divisions and external tensions continue to test the resilience of Europe and the wider transatlantic community.
Against this backdrop, the MCC Budapest Summit, taking place next week, will bring together internationally renowned scholars, policymakers, and analysts to address one of the defining questions of our time: can the West rediscover the foundations of stability, responsibility, and strategic restraint in an increasingly volatile world? The conference, titled Reclaiming the West, seeks not only to assess the challenges facing Western civilization, but also to explore pathways toward renewal, cooperation, and enduring peace.
Among the speakers will be Matt Goodwin, Editor-in-Chief of Mattgoodwin.org, Michael von der Schulenburg, Member of the European Parliament and former Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations, will bring decades of diplomatic experience to the debate. Alp Mehmet, Chairman of Migration Watch UK, will address the policy challenges surrounding migration in Europe.
The Summit will also feature Anatol Lieven, Director of the Eurasia Program at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft, Mark Krikorian, Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies, Viktor Marsai, Director of the Migration Research Institute at MCC, and Ricardo Ruiz de la Serna, professor of international relations and Head of Studies and Publications at Fundación Disenso.
Rather than merely diagnosing current crises, the MCC Budapest Summit aims to explore how responsible decision-making, strategic restraint, and meaningful dialogue could help the West rediscover a shared language of cooperation and stability before geopolitical tensions become irreversible.
