MCC's School of Law team finished among the world’s top eight at the ninth International Moot Court Competition in Law and Religion, held in Rome. Teams from prestigious universities, including Harvard University and Università Bocconi, participated in the multi-day international final.
Over the course of the nearly eight-month competition, the teams argued a complex fundamental rights case before the European Court of Human Rights, both in written submissions and orally. Former judges of the ECtHR, Vincent De Gaetano, Armen Harutyunyan, and Ann Power-Forde sat on the panel and evaluated the students’ work. The judges considered the precision of the legal reasoning, the correct application of international legal principles, and rhetorical skills.
During the competition, the team prepared submissions for both the Applicant and the Respondent and, in the final, defended their arguments orally in response to questions from the presiding judges. The competition not only opened new dimensions of professional development for MCC students but also provided an excellent opportunity for networking.
The team members were Kitti Börönte, Eszter Gondoly, Éva Blanka Schanda, Buda Nebdalek, Márton Csongrády, and Tamás Wisznovszky. Their coach was Dr. Lénárd Sándor, Head of MCC's School of Law.
We warmly congratulate them!
