From March 20–22, the University of Texas at Austin hosted the 2025 Global Summit on Constitutionalism, gathering leading constitutional scholars and practitioners from around the globe. The MCC Center for Constitutional Politics was proud to contribute to the rich dialogue with presentations in two panels during the three-day event.
The panel “Judicial Constraints on Legislatures in Europe 1990-2020” was dedicated to the launch of the twin volumes on constitutional review across Europe - edited by Kálmán Pócza, Head of the Center for Constitutional Politics, and published by Routledge in 2024. The panel was chaired by Márton Sulyok (Georgetown University / University of Szeged / MCC) and featured insightful contributions from Rhonda Evans (University of Texas at Austin), Yonatan Green (Georgetown University), and Kálmán Pócza on the specificities of judicial review in Europe, New Zealand, Israel and Hungary.
In addition, our researcher, Márton Csapodi, participated in the “Judicial Behavior and Strategy” panel alongside international experts Giovanna Tieghi (University of Padua), Yen-Tu Su (Academia Sinica), and Masahiko Kinoshita (Kobe University), contributing to an engaging exploration of contemporary trends in judicial decision-making.
