On Monday, October 19, Mario Alexis Portella, Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Florence, gave an English-language online lecture on the relationship between Europe and Christianity and the current state of religion and politics as part of the "Political Theologies" course by the School of Law.

Father Portella also holds a doctorate in canon law and civil law, and several publications on the history of Christianity are associated with his name. His latest book is 'Islam: Religion of Peace? The Violation of Natural Rights and Western Cover-Up', which, by placing Islam in historical and social policy contexts, explores the causes of conflicts between Muslims and non-Muslims and makes proposals for resolving them.
