For decades, MCC has been working to help talented Hungarian students to deepen their rhetorical skills and learn various argumentation techniques, therefore the MCC Debate Academy offers free training to all those who would like to improve their critical thinking and try their newly acquired knowledge in various debate forums. The one-year training course, which can be taken in addition to university or work, is open until 22 September.
For more than 28 years, Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) has been an integral part of its talent management and community-building activities, and has always been committed to encouraging fruitful, open debate. In 2019, the MCC Debate Academy was established to ensure that the knowledge of debate methodology and argumentation techniques accumulated over the decades can be used by as many people as possible. MCC aims to develop rational debate culture in our country.
Participants in the Debate Leadership Training, which is the core program of the Debate Academy, will learn about the methods of argumentation, the rules of rational debate, and the different formats of debate. They will acquire basic knowledge of argumentation techniques, informal logic and debate methodology, and will be able to pass on what they have learned, as well as to organise, moderate and evaluate independent debates. The methodologically very colourful training is supported by e-learning materials, a handbook, intensive practice-oriented weekends and personal professional mentoring.
After completing the one-year Debate Leader training, those interested can further develop their skills in the Debate Academy's Debate Trainer and then Mentor training programme and take part as a Debate Leader in MCC Debate Academy's unique talent development and community building programmes that span the whole Carpathian Basin.
