MCC's German Hungarian Institute for European Cooperation hosted its Spring Academy in Győr in March, bringing together eleven students from across the Carpathian Basin, the three-day program examined Germany's role within Europe and the key challenges facing European cooperation.
Students attended lectures by Visiting Fellows Dr. Antonia Baraniuk of Chemnitz University of Technology and Dr. Lasse B. Lassen of the University of Würzburg, alongside presentations by Schenk Richárd from MCC Brussels and experts from the Institute. The sessions covered topics including German politics, Central Europe, the European Union's institutions, and Germany's influence on EU decision making.
A highlight of the Academy was an interactive workshop in which students represented different EU member states and negotiated European policy issues from national perspectives. The simulation allowed participants to experience the complexities of balancing national and European interests while strengthening their analytical, and negotiation skills.
The program concluded with a lecture on Germany's role in EU decision making and a historical tour of Győr, providing students with a broader understanding of both European politics and the region's cultural heritage.
