A beautiful, peaceful area near Iacobeni, where the crown jewel of MCC jewel is hidden. An adventurous path through forests to an island of tranquillity leads to this place. The hosts prepare the finest local food, comfort for every need, and great activities. One's only task was to relax and learn about the local specialities, to delve into past and present.
On the first day, the students went on a tour of the area guided by a mountain rescue, who showed them the drone they use to map out wild animals and bears in the area, and told the students about their work, their daily lives and the opportunities the area offers. In the afternoon, one of the hosts, Kincső, gave a very exciting, playful session where the students learned about the origins of the locals, their different customs, costumes and the influence of history.
On Saturday, students visited the Border Guard Memorial Centre in Szépvíz, where they got an insight into the everyday life of the ancestors who lived through the storm of wars and political decisions, the perseverance and the uncommon struggle that still lives vividly in the stories of families. In the afternoon, we walked up to the site of the Șumuleu Ciuc Pilgrimage, where the famous altar designed by Imre Makovecz is located. Thanks to the rich professional programes and the relaxing environment, the students returned home completely recharged.
