Between 15-17 November 2024, the first training camp of the seventh year of the Transcarpathian Public Leadership Program took place in Budapest. The central theme of the weekend was self-awareness and understanding of our environment, which unfolded through theoretical lectures, interactive workshops and community activities.

The year started with 15 students. The students came from all over the region, from Uzhhorod, through Gat, Oleh and Solotvyno. Throughout the weekend, the participants immersed themselves in the essentials of self-awareness, resilience and community engagement through a variety of activities. Inspiring presentations and interactive workshops helped them to understand their own strengths and to effectively represent the interests of their communities. In addition, discussions on public identity and regional challenges gave participants the space to make sense of the dynamics of a changing world.

The real value of the weekend was the active participation and engagement of the participants, which went beyond professional development to foster community cohesion. The event provided an opportunity for participants to learn from each other, share experiences and reflect together on issues affecting the future of Transcarpathian Hungarians. The varied programmes and supportive atmosphere encouraged them to become not only leaders but also community builders and role models.
