A joint study by Bulcsú Tóth, Center Member in the 2025/2026 cohort, and Richárd Schneider, Researcher at the Center for Geopolitics, has been published in Small Wars & Insurgencies, a Q1-ranked international journal in the field of security studies.
The study, titled The Evolution of the Houthi Weapons Arsenal and Its Implications for Maritime Security and Cargo Shipping in the Red Sea, examines the development of the Yemeni Houthi movement’s missile, drone and maritime capabilities, as well as their strategic use. It traces these developments from the regionalisation of the conflict in 2015 to the escalation in the Red Sea following October 2023, with particular attention to the implications for maritime security and commercial shipping.
The publication also highlights the importance of academic mentorship and collaboration. Tóth began his research through the Center Membership Program, with Schneider supporting the project as both co-author and mentor. Schneider is also an alumnus of PhD Program, meaning that both authors have participated in MCC’s postgraduate programs.
Congratulations to the authors on this academic achievement!
