At Mathias Corvinus Collegium's opening ceremony of the academic year in Beregszász, Gergely Gulyás, Minister of the Prime Ministers' Office praised MCC for providing exceptional opportunities for gifted young people in Hungary and in the Carpathian Basin. Furthermore, he suggested MCC’s program could protect the next generation from aimless individualism by fostering a community that has common roots, genuine values, and forward-looking plans.

Gergely Gulyás also highlighted in his speech that "Hungary condemns Russian aggression and continues to provide financial assistance to Ukraine, with special attention given towards Transcarpathia and the protection of the Hungarian community of Transcarpathia, their fundamental rights including the restoration of their language rights.”

In his welcoming speech, MCC’s Director General Zoltán Szalai emphasized "Talent not only gives us the willpower to persevere, but it also helps us find our path in life and give it meaning". MCC, as the largest educational institute in the Carpathian Basin, attaches great importance to supporting all gifted students to develop their talents as close as possible to their homeland.

The Governor of Transcarpathia also addressed the audience, saying, "We must do everything in our power to ensure that the education of our children can continue in spite of the horrors and hardships of war." Viktor Mikita expressed gratitude to Hungary for its moral and humanitarian support. He stated that everything must be done to guarantee the complete protection of national minorities' rights and freedoms.

In his address, Zoltán Babják, the city's mayor, noted that, thanks to MCC, both Transcarpathia and Beregszász have grown stronger. At the end of the celebration, the Reformed Bishop and the Greek Catholic Dean of the city blessed the students and the institution.

Over 230 students will participate in the Beregszász MCC center in a newly renovated facility which will provide services for several hundred students and various public events. Last year alone, 16 events were held with nearly 2,500 attendees. By the end of 2023, Mathias Corvinus Collegium will offer talent education to 7300 young people in 28 training locations throughout the Carpathian Basin and Brussels.
