Mysteries, suspects, and clues to uncover might sound like the setting of a Sherlock Holmes or Enola Holmes story. This time, however, the investigation did not take place on the streets of London, but at MCC Transcarpathia, where students of the Youth Talent Program spent three days developing their English communication skills through playful, experience-based activities.
The three-day English camp was designed to encourage students to go beyond vocabulary and grammar and use their language skills confidently in real life communication situations. Instead of traditional classroom exercises, the program focused on creativity, teamwork, problem solving, and interactive challenges.
One of the highlights of the camp was a detective themed investigation. Taking on the role of young detectives, students questioned suspects, gathered information, formulated questions, and pieced together clues to solve a mystery. The activity required careful observation and logical thinking, while also encouraging the active use of English.
Alongside the investigation, students explored British culture and some of England’s best known landmarks through project based activities. They later put their newly acquired knowledge to the test during a quiz day, with each task encouraging them to use English naturally in a variety of situations.
Communication, cooperation, and problem solving remained at the heart of the program throughout the three days. As students worked together, they not only expanded their vocabulary and improved their language skills, but also became more confident in expressing themselves. The activities also strengthened their creativity, self-confidence, and ability to work as part of a team.
The English camp once again demonstrated how experience based learning can make language learning both effective and engaging while also strengthening a sense of community. In MCC’s Youth Talent Program, education is not only about gaining knowledge.
Applications for MCC’s Youth Talent Program are open until July 31, 2026. The tuition-free program complements school education for upper primary students by offering opportunities to explore new fields, develop valuable skills, gain memorable experiences, and become part of a supportive community.
