Between July 22 and 25 this year, 20 talented university students from five countries met in Bratislava to develop their communication, presentation, and leadership skills together. Beyond knowledge-sharing, the multi-day event provided space for joint reflection on the region’s cultural diversity, shared values, and the role of future opinion leaders.
Participants took part in top-quality training in debate and presentation skills, as well as business, political, and diplomatic communication, and storytelling. Special attention was given to rhetorical techniques such as crafting impactful messages and improving nonverbal communication — practical skills essential for both personal and professional growth.
At the Istropolis Academy, learning was more than just lectures — it was a hands-on experience. Students expanded their knowledge through creative projects, group work, and scenario-based exercises. Our goal was to provide an intellectually stimulating, culturally rich environment to strengthen the rhetorical and communication abilities of university students from across the region, including many from MCC.
The overwhelming interest in the program — with three times as many applications as available places — showed the high demand for this kind of “summer university.” Out of nearly sixty applicants, twenty were selected to spend four days at the Academy in Bratislava.
The Istropolis Academy turned out to be far more than a summer program. It became a dynamic space for learning, where students grew more open, confident, and self-aware. By the end, participants had gained not only new knowledge but also fresh perspectives, greater self-confidence, and valuable international connections. The experience reaffirmed our belief that effective communication is a skill anyone can develop.
