Since 2018, MCC’s Roma Talent Program has supported Roma high school and university students in their studies, career choices and long-term goals. The program is based on the idea that talent needs more than knowledge to thrive. Personal mentorship, practical skills and a supportive community can all play an important role in helping young people make the most of their potential.
Roma Talent Program complements traditional education by providing students with additional opportunities to expand their knowledge, develop practical skills and gain valuable experience. These opportunities support participants at different stages of their educational journey, from preparing for their final exams and university admission to earning language certificates and completing their university studies.
High school students can join the program from the first semester of Grade 9. Until graduation, they take part in a range of educational and skills development sessions. They can attend foreign language courses, while monthly training sessions at MCC in Budapest give them the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and explore new areas of interest.
Personalised mentorship is at the heart of the program. Experienced mentors support high school students throughout their time in Roma Talent Program, helping them with their studies, decisions about further education and their individual goals. This guidance goes beyond preparing for a particular exam, providing students with support as they take important steps towards their future.
The program also places a strong emphasis on community. Through joint activities and summer camps, participants have the opportunity to meet like-minded peers, share experiences and support one another. The connections they build can continue to be valuable as they move on to higher education and begin their professional careers.
By bringing together education, skills development, personalised mentorship and community, MCC’s Roma Talent Program aims to give talented Roma young people the support and opportunities they need to develop their potential, pursue their goals and shape their own futures.
