New opportunities, first experiences of university life, and new friendships took center stage at this year’s Junior Days, a two-day program welcoming students who have recently joined MCC’s University Program. The event gave participants an opportunity to get to know one another, discover what lies ahead, and experience the diverse community of the University Program through a mix of professional and community activities.
The program introduced newly admitted Junior students to MCC’s professional centers, instructors, and student communities. Participants learned about the key milestones ahead and gained a closer look at the opportunities offered through MCC’s Junior Program and University Program (EP).
Building community was at the heart of the Junior Days. Students joining the program come from across Hungary and pursue a wide range of fields of study. Through MCC's Junior Program, they will have numerous opportunities to take part in joint research projects, community events, and recreational activities throughout the academic year. The two-day event provided an early opportunity to start building these connections. Working in small groups, students prepared short presentations inspired by the motto “Bonus intra, melior exi.” The task encouraged them to collaborate, showcase their creativity, and get to know their new peers from the very beginning.
The following day, the program continued on Gellért Hill, where the Junior students gathered to watch the sunrise together. After a shared breakfast, participants joined a session organized by MCC’s Debate Academy, where they explored different debate formats, including British Parliamentary debate. In addition to developing their ability to construct and present well-reasoned arguments, the training helped strengthen their communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
The program also offered plenty of opportunities to connect outside the classroom. As part of a community service activity, students worked together to collect litter before joining the FolkKoli student project for a traditional dance session, where they learned Moldavian dances and melodies. The Junior Days concluded with a series of community-building activities organized by MCC’s Holló community.
Held at MCC’s Budapest Center, the Junior Days gave new students a memorable introduction to the community they will be part of throughout their university years. Through professional insights, shared experiences, and opportunities to connect with one another, the program provided a strong foundation for the academic year ahead.
