Ambassador of Finland to Hungary Pertti Anttinen visited the MCC to talk about the two country's relationship, similarities and differences.
After a brief historical overview, we discussed the relevant issues of today: Hungary has ratified Finland's membership in NATO, for which His Excellency was thankful. He also explained why it is so important for them: Finland is fully prepared for membership from a military perspective.
We furthermore talked about the elections of the last few weeks and the structure of the Finnish government: it is a coalition of many small parties, the secret of which is to make many compromises.
Other important topics included education, which has a long tradition of respect and importance in Finland; and the importance of sustainability, and energy issues. Finland is putting a lot of emphasis on renewable energy and nuclear energy management. We closed the discussion with questions from students.
