Alexandra Szemere is the head of education at the MCC Debate Academy. She has been teaching argumentation, persuasion and social psychology in higher education since 2014. She became acquainted with the genres of debate and the methodology of debating while teaching argumentation and persuasion techniques, and has been a committed supporter of the method ever since, as it is an excellent way to develop critical thinking, insight, communication skills and debate culture, among other things. Her responsibilities include the design and implementation of programmes in argumentation and debate methodology, the development of related teaching materials and the mentoring of prospective debate teachers and MCC students. In addition to teaching, she conducts research in the field of educational development, investigating the applicability and motivational power of different games, debating games and debate formats in teaching debating and argumentation and persuasion techniques.
