Following her initial studies in East Germany in October 1989 she fled to Munich via Hungary, enrolling in business studies at Ludwig Maximilian University in 1990. Following the competition of her undergraduate studies in Munich she obtained her graduate degree at the Free University of Berlin in 1995. Attaining her doctorate in 2008.
She joined the CDU in 1997 and has been a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament since 2004 and was a member of the German Bundestag from December 2019 to October 2021.
