Zalán Alkonyi is a researcher, historian and international relations analyst. He previously worked at the Eastern Europe Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and is currently a PhD student at the ELTE Doctoral School of History. Her doctoral research focuses on how nationalism contributed to the disintegration of the Soviet Union, with a special emphasis on the historical, political and social aspects of the national question. His academic interests focus on the origins, theoretical and methodological issues of nationalism, its role in the political transformation of the Soviet successor states and the emergence of ethnic conflicts. His research aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the dynamics of the post-Soviet space, while also enriching the academic discourse on nationalism and international relations.
