Born on 14 March 1969 in Berlin, Prof. Dr. Oliver Lembcke has been Professor of Political Science at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum since 2020, before which he taught at various universities, including Erfurt, Leipzig, Jena and Hamburg. He is currently a visiting researcher at the VU Amsterdam. His research interests include normative democracy theory and empirical democracy studies, judicial governance, and the political theory and history of ideas of constitutionalism.
