Dr. János Setényi is the Director of the MCC Institute of Learning Research. He was born in Budapest in 1961. He studied at the ELTE BTK and attended part-time training at the University of Helsinki. Originally a historian, he received his doctorate in education from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He is a generalist in all sectors of education and has been primarily concerned with policy-making issues. He has developed a strong international professional embeddedness from the outset, having worked regularly on projects for the OECD, the Council of Europe and the EU DG Employment over the last 25 years. In 1995, he founded one of the first for-profit educational consultancies in Central Europe, Expanzió Humán Tanácsadó Kft. He is a native speaker of English and Finnish, with intermediate knowledge of Russian and Mandarin. He has been practicing Chen-style taijiquan for twenty years.
